Cats' Corners: the little HOUSE in the woods....
Where House is NEVER safe...
A Wee Experiment, in hopes I'll be able to write again

PatheticHouse

I've been attempting to figure out the whys behind my months-long inability to produce anything in the way of decent fiction, and the only thing I can come up with is that I've been reading.  And all I've managed are some very short one-shots which--quite honestly--I wasn't happy with.  I just went back and reread them, and they feel forced, and incomplete.

So, for the next week or so, I won't be around much, and I won't be reading any fiction at all--not even the MSTs, which have never interfered with my voices at all, but I'm getting so frustrated with my 'dry spell' that I don't want to take even that minimal chance.

This may, or may not, work at all, but I've gotta try.  Wish me luck!

Good luck! Love your stories and none of them seem forced to me.

Also fingers crossed from me. Your stories are some of the best out there and are very much something I look forward to eagerly.

Well, I was enjoying leading you through the safer parts of the Aftershocks world, but you know -- I'd much rather help with this experiment.

Much luck, because I'm selfish and want more stories. Hee.

I know exactly what you mean. Have a lovely sabbatical! Can't wait to see what you come up with! :-)

If you think it might work for you, go for it.
As for me, I didn't find your recent stories forced at all. I think they are so deep and perfectly written, and that they make me feel good . So, I don't think they need to be better than that!
But. Again, if you do think you can do better than that, well, it's not me the person who will argue you out of doing it :-)

I completely get you. I've been so busy with stuff that when an idea comes up I screw it up by reading. So I'll be sticking to Harry Potter 7 and only the fics that I get alerts about. Good luck, I have started one and am working slowly on it. It might crash but it could be good.

I think that might be a good idea, although I'll miss you. I find that sometimes people just go through an unaccountable dry spell. I prefer to think of it as fallow time--getting the soil ready for the next crop.

Sooo.... yeah, I wish you luck!

I understand all too well, since I'm going through a bit of a dry spell myself. I should probably stop reading so much, but the way I look at it - I have the rest of my life to write, when I want to write and how I want to write. If I want to read I will, if I want to write nothing can stop me. :-)

So hang in there, don't vanish *too* long, okay?

As to the other *project* we've been discussing, I've now put it off until I'm on vacation - Thanksgiving week. *That* should give me time to go through screen caps, etc. ;-)

(((( HUGS ))))

Oh, and your writing is NOT coming across forced at all!

thank you! i did read namaste's new football fic yesterday, but that's a very long way from angst, and i've been behaving myself--i've read nothing else. and i am getting a new idea or three. nothing worth typing out yet, but it's, at least, a start!
